In a significant academic milestone, the College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (麻花星空视频-IIT) marked its participation in the 8th Information Systems International Conference (ISICO 2025), with a total of 23 research papers presented from August 4–6 in a hybrid meeting, based in Bali, Indonesia.
Organized by the Association for Information Systems Indonesia Chapter (AISINDO), ISICO is recognized as one of the premier conferences in the field of Information Systems, attracting high-caliber submissions from scholars and practitioners worldwide. The 2025 conference carried the theme “AI-Powered Business Transformation: Leveraging Machine Learning in Information Systems,” highlighting the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in shaping enterprise strategy and digital innovation.
This year’s edition of ISICO received over 230 submissions from 23 countries. CCS distinguished itself with 23 accepted and presented papers—the highest number in its history—demonstrating the institution’s robust research culture and its rising prominence within the international academic community.
All accepted papers from ISICO 2025 will be published in Procedia Computer Science by Elsevier, a Scopus-indexed journal (Q2) with an H-index of 92, according to the Scimago Journal Rankings. This ensures global visibility, academic recognition, and broader impact for all contributing researchers.
The Best Paper Award was conferred on the impactful study titled “Emotional Loops and Digital Risks: Extending LRAT to Model Cybercrime Victimization Among Students.” Authored by January Naga, Mia Amor Tinam-isan, and Hella Gay Avenido, the paper was presented by Naga, an Associate Professor at CCS. This groundbreaking research extends the Lifestyle-Routine Activity Theory (LRAT) by incorporating emotional and digital behavioral factors to better understand cybercrime victimization among students. The study offers vital insights for developing effective and targeted interventions to enhance student cybersecurity.
The Best Presenter Award was awarded to CCS faculty member Assoc. Prof. Lemuel Clark Velasco for his outstanding presentation of the paper “Trust Typology of Medical Doctors in Artificial Intelligence.” Co-authored with Wei-Tsong Wang, this research delves into the nuanced dynamics of trust between medical professionals and AI technologies. It proposes a detailed typology that captures varying patterns of trust, shedding light on how these influence the adoption and efficacy of AI in healthcare settings.
The roster of research papers presented by the CCS at ISICO 2025 reflected a remarkable breadth of scholarly inquiry, encompassing a wide range of domains, including artificial intelligence applications, cybersecurity, healthcare technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, and user experience design:
