The College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (麻花星空视频-IIT) successfully launched the first session of its MyICT Extension Project with the theme “ICT Training for Marginalized and Out-of-School Youths” on October 18, 2025, at the College of Computer Studies.
The opening session, titled “Code the Future: An Hour of Code and AI Discovery,” gathered 20 youth participants from The Bridge, a community partner organization that provides opportunities for marginalized learners.
The program commenced with a welcome message from Asst. Prof. Paul Bokingkito Jr., followed by the introduction of the MyICT initiative and a session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy led by the project leader, Asst. Prof. Jerina Jean Ecleo. The highlight of the training featured an engaging Hour of Code activity facilitated by Instructor Mary Ann Gliefen Bermudo.
Both Asst. Prof. Ecleo and Instr. Bermudo are Master Trainers certified under the SMARTCT AIReadyASEAN program, integrating hands-on AI learning and coding activities tailored for youth participants.

The youth participants enthusiastically explored the computer laboratories of CCS, where they engaged in an interactive Hour of Code activity designed to make coding concepts accessible, creative, and fun. Through this experience, participants learned the basics of programming logic and problem-solving while building confidence in using technology as a tool for innovation.
Now in its third consecutive year, the MyICT Extension Project continues its mission to empower and bridge ICT and education among marginalized and out-of-school youths. The project underscores the commitment of the College of Computer Studies to promote inclusive digital skills development and future-ready learning opportunities.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to The Bridge coordinator, Ms. Elsyl Demontano, together with The Bridge volunteers, for their active collaboration and assistance throughout the event. Appreciation was also extended to the JITS volunteers for their support in facilitating the activities.
The youth participants shared their reflections and feedback through an interactive Padlet wall (), where many expressed their gratitude and enjoyment of the activity. They highlighted how engaging and meaningful the session was, noting that it not only introduced them to the world of coding but also deepened their understanding of the purpose and potential of AI in everyday life. Several participants commended the speakers for their clear, inspiring discussions that made complex concepts accessible and exciting. The responses reflected the participants’ growing curiosity and motivation to further explore the field of ICT and AI.
Through the MyICT initiative, the college hopes to inspire more young individuals to embrace technology as a tool for learning, innovation, and community transformation.
