In pursuit of fostering academic excellence and research engagement in the fields of economics, energy, and sustainability, three Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Business Economics students from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (Â黨ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ-IIT), presented their research paper at both international and national conferences: 4th International Conference on Energy and Environmental Economics (ENERCON 2025) and 16th National Convention on Statistics (NCS), respectively.
Held on September 25-26, 2025, via online platform, the delegation, which includes Kate Angela Cabrera, Honey Patalinghug, and Juan Miguel Aboyo under the advisorship of Mr. Gerrich Aldin Babanto, first presented their paper titled “Sectoral Attribution of GHGs Emissions: An Analysis for World Countries,” at the ENERCON 2025. Their paper focused on the comprehensive assessment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across various economic sectors worldwide, emphasizing the need for equitable and sustainable policy responses to address global climate challenges.

ENERCON 2025 is a triennial international conference for active networking and knowledge sharing among experts, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in energy and environmental research. Anchored on the theme, “Strengthening Economic Resilience through Sustainable Energy and Environmental Strategies,” the conference featured plenary presentations by renowned experts in the fields of energy and economics and provided opportunities for scholars and sectoral stakeholders to exchange insights on emerging research and policy trends. ENERCON 2025 was spearheaded by the Department of Economics (DE) of the College of Economics and Management (CEM) at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB).

Following the international presentation, the team presented their paper at the 16th NCS held on October 1-3, 2025, at The Manila Hotel, in Metro Manila, which was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).
The NCS, conducted every three years by virtue of PSA Board Resolution No. 01, Series of 2017–073, is the country’s largest gathering of statisticians, practitioners, academicians, researchers, students, and media representatives from both government and private sectors. The convention featured plenary sessions, contributed paper presentations, panel discussions, statistical trainings, and the Statistical Information Management Exhibit (SIMEx)—a showcase of the latest tools and technologies for statistical information and management.
With the theme “Accelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All,” the conference highlighted the crucial role of data in tracking the country’s progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through their participation in these prestigious conferences, the Â黨ÐÇ¿ÕÊÓƵ-IIT Business Economics students not only represented the university with pride but also contributed to national and global dialogues on sustainability, climate action, and data-driven governance.
